Over the past few weeks, it has been tiresome having to continually hear Conservatives, when asked to outline a policy or detail a plan – any plan – for Scotland's future, reply by simply attacking the Scottish Government's record. However, the piece by Scottish Conservative shadow economy secretary, Dean Lockhart, must be in the running for the 2017 General Election campaign's Order Of The Turnip award for fudge (How will the parties boost the Scottish economy?, Hustings, June 4).

According to his submission, here are the Tories' 10 top policies to boost the Scottish economy.

1. After a decade of SNP decline, Scotland's economy is heading into recession.

2. Scotland's economy under the SNP declined.

3. Under the SNP, Scotland's economy underperformed.

4. The SNP does not understand how the economy works.

5. The SNP has made Scotland the highest-taxed part of the UK.

6. Under the SNP ... business confidence and productivity levels in Scotland are lower.

7. According to the SNP, Brexit justifies a second referendum.

8. 16 per cent of Scotland's exports go to the EU while 65 per cent go to the UK.

9. After the SNP's economic decline, there is only one party to trust.

10. And finally (shock, horror): the SNP wants independence.

To give Jackie Baillie, Scottish Labour economy spokesperson, her due, she only attacks the SNP three times.
