It was night to remember at Parkhead as Celtic and Fenerbahce went head to head in the Europa League. Here is how we thought they measured up.

CRAIG GORDON (6) Took until the 38th minute before his first touch of note and even that came in the form of a great pass upfield. No chance with either goal and pulled off a great reflex save to deny Simon Kjaer from distance.

MIKAEL LUSTIG (7) Up against former Manchester United man Nani and coped well with the challenge. A steady hand that helped an at occasionally creaking defence just about get over the line against a formidable attack.

DEDRYCK BOYATA (6) Was always going to be the more reliable of the two centre-halves and so it proved. Dealt well with most thrown at him, especially in the air against the bulky figure of Fernandao.

The Herald:

EFE AMBROSE (3) He is the man that normally strikes fear into the hearts of those in the Parkhead stands, and against Fenerbahce he almost lasted a full half without a calamity. Almost. And what a clanger it was. A dreadfully short header back to Gordon was intercepted by Fernandao and he slotted low into the net. He then got the wrong side of the Brazilian three minutes after the break, allowing him to bullet home the leveller. How do you solve a problem like Efe?

KIERAN TIERNEY (6) The 18-year-old was handed his European debut for the suspended Emilio Izaguirre. Looked keen going forward and to offer an overlap beyond Forrest. The odd hastily-played ball not enough to take shine off an astute performance, deservedly received standing ovation when taken off with nine to play.

KRIS COMMONS (7) Stunning delivery from the former Scotland internationalist at a corner on 28 minutes to allow Griffiths to score. If that was brilliant, his finish four minutes later eight 12 yards out was better as his high shot flew by Fabiano to double Celtic’s lead. A stinging volley his best contribution in a second half devoid of much productivity from the home side.

The Herald:

SCOTT BROWN (8) The Celtic captain was immense in an intense midfield battle. Was part of the tag team that offered Nani little room to operate in, while he was not scared to charge forward and beat his man when the opportunity presented itself. Was constantly talking to his team-mates around him as he guided them through a rocky second half.

NIR BITTON (7) His usual assured self. Rarely gave away possession and was one of the driving forces after the break that tried to haul Celtic further up the park.

STEFAN JOHANSEN (5) Still not the player we saw last season. Snatched at a good chance when the game was 0-0, while needlessly got himself booked after giving van Persie the ball with a loose pass before fouling him. Subbed off with nine to go in pain.

JAMES FORREST (6) Out on the left as Commons occupied the winger’s favoured right flank. Almost gave Celtic the lead in opening minutes when the ball broke to him on the edge of the box but it sneaked just wide. Did superbly well to beat Nani and deliver a pinpoint cross for Commons to make it two. On the back foot after the break. Taken off with just injury time left.

LEIGH GRIFFITHS (6) As well as scoring the opener, he was the man that one the corner and also had the effort that led to the rebound which he smashed home. Little opportunity to do much else as the Efe Show changed the direction of the game.

SUBSTITUTES:

TYLER BLACKETT (3) Failed to make impact after replacing Tierney

TOM ROGIC (3) Johansen's replacement tried to haul Celtic forward but little time to work with

STUART ARMSTRONG (2) On with seconds to go for Forrest
