Liam Lindsay has completed a move to English Championship side Barnsley from Partick Thistle.

The in-demand 21-year-old has joined the Tykes for an undisclosed fee, after agreeing personal terms and completing a medical yesterday.

Lindsay said: “I’m delighted to be here. I met the Gaffer, he took me into his office and sat down with me outlining his plans for the team, for me and for the Club. I was really impressed with that. It made me feel good knowing he knew what I was about, that he knew my game. Everything was so detailed, it’s a really professional setup and I can’t wait to get started.”

Meanwhile, Oxford United chairman Darryl Eales has refused to confirm if Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald is on a list of candidates to replace Michael Appleton, after he joined Leicester City as assistant manager.

Eales said that the club have yet to make an approach to anyone over the vacant position, but reiterated that current assistant manager Derek Fazackerley was likely to remain in position.

That may prove a potential stumbling block to any approach to Archibald, who would likely prefer to continue working with Scott Paterson as his number two.
