MCGREGOR: Only Scotland player who left the pitch with pass-marks. Repelled Israel throughout the 90 minutes with a string of saves and had little chance with either of the goals. Could well have been more without him. (7)

TIERNEY: Difficult night for Tierney. Unlucky to slice a ball into his own net from former Celt Beram Kayal and looked ill at ease in the centre of defence following Souttar's dismissal. (6)

SOUTTAR: Red card compounded a difficult night for the defender. Second booking looked harsh given the theatrics of Dabbur but his initial touch left him exposed. The fact that Israel were able to win so many free headers highlighted the difficulty that Scotland had on a night when they found themselves under huge pressure for much of the game. (5)

MULGREW: Netted the third goal for his country when he despatched a ferocious spot kick to give Scotland the lead to exorcise the demons of his last penalty kick miss for Scotland. Defensively though had a tough night as Israel put Scotland under pressure. Replaced by Scott McKenna at the break. (5)

O’DONNELL: Exposed at times on the flank and found himself under immense pressure at times during the game. Dabbur could have claimed a first-half hat-trick such was the ease with which Israel seemed to move through the middle of the park and come at Scotland. (5)

ROBERTSON: Held off by Dor Peretz as Israel netted the leveller shortly after the restart. Frustrating showed when he collected a booking for mouthing off as the game drew to a merciful close. (5)

MCGINN: Tough shift for the Aston Villa midfielder who found himself on the set-pieces. With Scotland’s midfield over-run at times, McGinn found it difficult to exert significant influence on proceedings. (5)

MCDONALD: Ponderous at times and slow on the ball. Caught out in possession and seemed to struggle with the tempo and pace of the Israelis. (5)

MCGREGOR: One effort from distance which went over the bar. Tried to support Naismith and get in behind the Israeli defence. Had one effort which he hit over the bar shortly after Israel had taken the lead in the second period and then a fine strike beat away by the Israeli keeper. (6)

RUSSELL: Took a sore one on the face from the elbow of Ben Harush, for which the Israeli was booked. In ahead of Forrest and deployed in a relatively forward role. Demanding night for Russell. (5)

NAISMITH: Just missed a header in the opening half. Won the header midway through the second period but then won the penalty which gave Scotland something to cling to. (5)

MCKENNA: On to make his competitive debut for the second period after Mulgrew appeared to pick up a knock. (5)

FORREST: On with little over 20 minutes to go but couldn't reverse the tide of Israel pressure. (5)

MCBURNIE: On for Naismith just after Israel had taken the lead for the first time in the game. (3)
