If Blair Kinghorn was in any doubt as to how harsh the Test arena can be the last two weekends have brought it home.

After starting at full-back against Wales in the opening match of this autumn Test series, the Edinburgh full-back has had plenty of time to stew on that disappointment when left out of the match 23 against both Fiji and South Africa.

For all that Stuart Hogg has made clear his eagerness to pull on the No.15 jersey again against Argentina this weekend, Kinghorn looks set to get another chance on the wing since Tommy Seymour is one of only three men, along with WP Nel and Ryan Wilson, to have started all three matches. Still a relative newcomer, he is, of course, keen to make it clear that he is merely delighted to be involved, but there is an eagerness to do so on the field once again.

“It’s tough after every defeat. You just want to get back on the field and right the wrongs,” he admitted.

“We didn’t have our best game in Wales so I think the boys did a great job bouncing back against Fiji. Now we know the wrongs we need to right from the South Africa game. You don’t want to miss any game. The one in Wales was a close-quarter game, not very open, whereas it was open and expansive against Fiji and we played some expansive stuff against South Africa.

“Against Wales our accuracy wasn’t good enough. The way we want to play is fast and open so if we can get quick ball and get on the front foot then it will be fun. We’ll see what happens with team selection this week and hopefully if I’m involved I’ll just try to do my thing and hopefully we’ll get the win. It should be a really, really good game.”
