RYAN JACK hopes striker Alfredo Morelos doesn’t lose his competitive edge after coming under fire for his Ibrox disciplinary record.

The Colombian was sent off in the defeat to Aberdeen on Wednesday night and will miss the trip to face Dundee tomorrow afternoon.

He is also ruled out for the visit of Hamilton seven days later after picking up his sixth booking of the campaign against Livingston last month.

Morelos saw his red card at Pittodrie on the opening day of the campaign overturned on appeal but was also dismissed in Ufa as Steven Gerrard’s side reached the Europa League group stages.

Boss Gerrard has warned his players to improve their discipline on the park and Jack, who was sent off four times last term, knows there is a balance to be struck.

He said: "For myself anyway, you always needs to go into games with that competitive edge.

“If you don't then you are up against it straight away, especially as a midfielder.

“So myself, I always start with a competitive edge knowing that if I do get booked I'm obviously one late tackle away from going off the park.

"That leads to suspensions and also killing your team-mates on the night.

"With Alfredo, he's done brilliantly for us this season. He's won us so many games this season already.

"He's been brilliant to play with this season and I see a total change in him from last season.

"For us, we're definitely sticking with him as a big player for us.

"He's just as competitive in training as that's just the way he plays. He just wants to do as well as he can.

"He wants to win and even in training he wants to win. He's the type of guy you love having in your team because he's competitive.

“Sometimes he can overstep the mark, there's no doubt, but the flip side is that he's won us so many games this season."
