KILMARNOCK striker Greg Stewart is heading back to Birmingham City after the English side invoked a clause in his loan deal that allows the forward to return to his parent club.

Stewart will train with Kilmarnock until the end of the week but is scheduled to be back in Birmingham next Monday.

The 28-year-old leaves as one of the Premiership's top scorers this season, scoring eight goals and setting up another seven in 16 league appearances under Steve Clarke.

With Stewart's contract expiring in the summer, however, the striker could end up leaving St Andrew's before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
