RANGERS are reportedly interested in signing Charlton Athletic forward Karlan Ahearne-Grant after one of the Ibrox club's scouts watched the 21-year-old in action against Shrewsbury at the weekend.

It is believed that Rangers are interested in singing the young striker on a pre-contract with Ahearne-Grant's current contract having just six months left to run.

The forward has scored 13 goals this season for Charlton as the English League One side push for promotion under manager Lee Bowyer.

Charlton have already knocked back a bid from Brentford this month - believed to be around £500,000 - and would receive compensation should another club agree a pre-contract with Ahearne-Grant.

The striker could prove to be a long-term successor to Alfredo Morelos, who has regularly been linked with big-money moves away from Ibrox.

Alhearne-Grant has been capped at every youth level for England and is thought to be highly-regarded within the English youth setup.
