Scott Brown has held talks with Celtic over a testimonial. The 31-year-old will make his 400th appearance in green and white this evening as Celtic host St Johnstone and dialogue about marking 10 years at the club is under way.
Brown was signed for Celtic by Gordon Strachan in 2007 from Hibernian and the midfielder told the club’s official television channel, CelticTV, that a testimonial could be in the pipeline.
“We have been speaking, Peter and I, so it could happen but I am
in no rush,” said Brown.
“If they offered me another four-year deal I’d be happy to accept. But definitely, I still have the legs and I still have the love of the game.”

Brown could end this season with a domestic treble, something he admits he has been trying to achieve for the last decade.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have already won the League Cup and currently hold a 19-point lead at the top of the table. Inverness Caledonian Thistle await in the Scottish Cup next month and Brown is quietly excited about the challenge of delivering a clean sweep.
“It would be lovely,” he smiled. “I have wanted it every season that I have been here and if I could do it in my tenth season it would be fantastic.”
And Brown has relished this season as Rodgers has re-energised the club. Brown has been one of the key players under the Northern Irishman and the Celtic skipper believes that there is still plenty of football in him yet.
“I feel as good as I have ever felt in a Celtic jersey,” he said. “The gaffer has come in and I am enjoying his training and enjoying the banter of the lads in the dressing room.
“It is a great place to be and it is always like that when you are winning but there are always going to be dips and ups and downs but this team has the ability to bounce back.
“We were 2-0 down to Motherwell and we came back and it shows you how hard we can work.
“I am enjoying my football and we’re having a great season so far and we want to maintain that for as long as we possibly can.
“We have a lot to play for and there are still a lot of points there.
“The way we are playing is great but the pitches are all going to start chopping up now and it might not be as pretty to watch but we can deal with that.”

Meanwhile, Ryan Christie has agreed a loan move to Aberdeen until the end of the season as he looks to get some game time under his belt.
The striker has featured sporadically this term but is set to team up with Derek McInnes in order to bolster Aberdeen’s efforts to finish ahead of Rangers in the SPFL Premiership.
McInnes told his club’s official website: “I am delighted to get a player of Ryan’s quality into the club.
“We want to make a couple of additions in the January window – quality additions – and there is no doubt Ryan has the quality to come in and make an impact with us. Ryan can help us with the challenges that lie ahead during the second half of the season.
“I would also like to thank Brendan Rodgers and Celtic for assisting in getting the deal done.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
