ALLAN MCGREGOR (6): Left exposed for Canadian goal but got down well to deny Jackson a second for the visitors. Little to do in the second half apart from fine late save from Aird long-ranger.

IKECHI ANYA (6): Got forward well and was usual bundle of energy, but left space in behind him on occasion and was muscled off the ball once or twice too, which may be a worry if he lines up a right-back against Slovenia.

CHRISTOPHE BERRA (5): Part of a shaky-looking defensive unit in the first half especially, and struggled with the pace of Walsall’s Simeon Jackson at times. Communication between himself and Mulgrew lacking at times.

CHARLIE MULGREW (6): Tasked with bringing the ball out from the back and did so to decent effect, but could have been better defensively along with the rest of a backline that was creaking badly at times.

LEE WALLACE (5): Canada opener was a personal nightmare for the Rangers captain, giving the ball away in midfield then making a hash of it in the box to present the ball to former teammate Aird to score. Made amends with run and cross for equaliser, subbed at half-time.

DARREN FLETCHER (6): Tried to get on the ball but use of it wasn’t always the best. Didn’t offer sufficient protection to the back four in the first half, but was much more in control after the break.

TOM CAIRNEY (7): Impressive debut from the Fulham man. Looked after the ball well and hit the shot that was deflected in by Naismith for the Scots’ equaliser and generally looked assured. Replaced with 15 minutes left.

ROBERT SNODGRASS (6): Some nice touches and a couple of decent deliveries, but didn’t quite provide the usual threat that he does from behind the striker. Touch let him down when played in by Griffiths.

STEVEN NAISMITH (6): Grabbed much-needed equaliser, adjusting well to steer Cairney’s wayward shot home. Lasted an hour and put himself about.

OLIVER BURKE (6): Showed his trademark pace and power to get himself in on goal but hit the keeper. Showed flashes here and there before being replaced by Bannan at the interval.

CHRIS MARTIN (5): Plodded along up front without contributing too much of a threat, and his touch was a little off when trying to bring people into play. Replaced on the hour.

SUBSTITUTES:

ANDY ROBERTSON (6): On for Wallace at the break and quietened the threat of Aird as well as getting forward at every opportunity.

BARRY BANNAN (6): On at half-time and livened things up a little, but blazed a couple of decent opportunities over the bar from good positions.

JORDAN RHODES (5): Given the last half an hour but didn’t have much in the way of service into the area.

LEIGH GRIFFITHS (5): On after an hour and slid a lovely through ball in to Snodgrass who failed to make the most of the opportunity.

JOHN MCGINN (4): Given the last 15 minutes but failed to make much of an impact with the game petering out.
