Stuart Armstrong is expected to sign a new deal with Celtic before Friday.

The Celtic midfielder has been dithering over the contract for months, however, sources have suggested that a verbal deal has been agreed between the two parties.

The news comes after Brendan Rodgers, the Celtic manager, attributed the reticence to the park of his agent, hinting that the player had been poorly advised.

Talks resumed this afternoon with Armstrong set to commit his future to the Parkhead side.

Armstrong was one of the standout players for Celtic in the latter half of last season but has toiled to replicate that kind of form.

Rodgers directly attributed that to the contract impasse and both the Hoops boss and the player will be keen to put the issue to bed.
