RANGERS ended their three wins-in-a-row hoodoo with victory over Ross County to reclaim second spot in the Premiership standings.

Owen Coyle’s side stunned Ibrox when Craig Curran netted after ten minutes but goals from Alfredo Morelos and Danny Wilson clinched the points for the Gers.

It is the first time in twelve months that the Light Blues have won three successive top flight fixtures as they followed up their victories over Aberdeen by seeing off County.

Interim boss Graeme Murty made two changes from the side that won at Pittodrie last weekend as Bruno Alves returned from injury and Daniel Candeias replaced the suspended Ryan Jack in midfield.

He would have been hoping the Gers could pick up where they left off but it was a flat start at Ibrox before Kenny Miller hooked a shot over the bar from 25 yards.

Just seconds later, County silenced the home crowd. Jason Naismith swung in a cross from the right and Curran glanced a neat header beyond Wes Foderingham.

Once again, Rangers were up against in on home soil and the patience of the crowd was being tested. Thankfully for Murty, Curran’s next attempt later in the half was a weak one from the edge of the area that Foderingham was able to hold.

James Tavernier saw a shot parried away by Scott Fox and Miller was denied after a neat mover from Josh Windass and Jason Holt down the left.

The second goal of the afternoon was going to be defining and County continued to look comfortable as Rangers struggled to find any rhythm going forward.

A powerful drive from Windass that Fox held at the second attempt brought a groan around Ibrox. The boos soon rung out as Rangers trudged off at half-time.

Murty made his first change during the interval as Carlos Pena was replaced by Morelos. In truth, it could have been done some time before as the Mexican produced another lacklustre display.

The Colombian endured a goal drought before he was forced off through injury at Dundee and his first attempt to get back on the score sheet wasn’t a convincing one as he failed to trouble Fox with a low strike from just inside the area.

He should have found the net with his second a couple of minutes later but he couldn’t convert at the back post after a terrific cross from Declan John.

The next time he had a sight of goal, he made the most of it. Miller sent Candeias down the flank with a neat dink over the top and the Portuguese had time to pick out his man.

Morelos was in the right place at the right time and he swept the ball into the net to bring Rangers level just before the hour mark.

The goal gave Rangers, and the home crowd, a renewed hope but there was still plenty of work to be done for the Light Blues.

The task should have become even more difficult after 68 minutes but Foderingham saved a tame strike from sub Ryan Dow. After a good County move, the pass to Jamie Lindsay was the better option but Dow attempted to go on his own as Coyle was left frustrated.

Referee Euan Anderson waved away penalty claims after Windass went down in the area before Miller fired over from distance as Rangers began to get increasingly desperate. Sub Jamie Barjonas, on for the impressive Ross McCrorie, came closer as he dragged a low effort narrowly wide of target.

With eight minutes remaining, Rangers got their goal. Tavernier’s free-kick from the right was met by Windass and his header was blocked. But Wilson was on hand to knock the ball into the net for his second goal in two games.

County had one last chance as Foderingham spilled a free-kick and the ball bounced around the Gers box. But it came to nothing for the visitors as they were left with nothing to show for their efforts.
