The Ladies European Tour (LET) has been plunged into further turmoil just a week before the Solheim Cup after Ivan Khodabaksh, the circuit’s embattled chief executive, stepped down from his post last night.

There have been calls for changes at the top after the struggling circuit lost a number of events from its schedule this season while revealing worrying financial figures.

One anonymous player recently expressed her fears to a national newspaper that the tour was on the brink of collapse while Scottish stalwart Catriona Matthew, speaking at last week’s Women’s British Open at Kingsbarns, suggested the LET had “perhaps the wrong person at the head.”

Khodabakhsh, who has been in the post since 2013, will be replaced by the LET’s chairman, Mark Lichtenhein, on an interim basis.
