GREIG TONKS and Rory Hughes have earned call-ups to Scotland's summer tour after wing Sean Maitland was ruled out with injury.
Head coach Gregor Townsend had named the Saracens back in his initial touring party, but an injury to the 28-year-old's ankle ligaments has resulted in his withdrawal.
Glasgow Warriors wing Hughes and London Irish full-back Tonks have earned selection to cover for the 28-year-old's absence.
Tonks has racked up six caps for the national team previously but hasn't featured for the last two years, while Hughes last pulled on the dark blue jersey during the Autumn Tests last year.
"We’ve watched Greig [Tonks] closely this season," said Townsend. "He’s done really well in a good London Irish side and played a lot of full-back but also covered at centre and stand-off.
“He’s a player that brings aggression and a really good kicking game but also has the ability to step up at first and second receiver. Primarily we’re looking at him as a 15 but it’s positive he can cover other positions as well.
“Rory [Hughes] has had a really good season. He was on excellent form before the injury he suffered just before Christmas and got back to that form towards the end of the season.
“This is an opportunity for him to continue the good work he put in this season, in particular leading up to the autumn tests, where he was capped against Georgia.”
Scotland will face Italy, Australia and Fiji on consecutive weekends next month.

Saturday 17 June: Australia v Scotland; Allianz Stadium, Sydney (kick-off 3pm, 6am BST)
Saturday 24 June: Scotland v Fiji; ANZ Stadium, Suva, Fiji (kick-off 2.30pm, 3.30am BST)
