Scotland scrum-half Ali Price has signed a new two-year deal with Glasgow Warriors.

Just four days after scoring a try for Scotland in their 53-24 victory over Australia, Price has committed his future to the club until at least May 2020.

It has been a stand-out year for the 24-year-old who made his Scotland debut against Georgia at Rugby Park last November and has gone on to represent his country 11 times, starting the last three Autumn Tests at BT Murrayfield.

A product of the BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy, Price was voted the McCrea Financial Services Player of the Season by the Glasgow supporters for his performances in 2016/17.

Domestically, the number nine has scored eight tries in his 48 appearances for the Warriors, his most recent coming in the win against Connacht in the opening round of the Guinness PRO14 in September.

Since making his debut in 2014, Price has become a regular in the Glasgow Warriors squad, keeping opposition defences guessing through his speed of pass and ability to spot a gap.

Speaking exclusively to Warriors TV, Price said: “It was an incredibly easy decision for me to make. I’ve been up here for four years now and I’m loving it and the club’s in a really good place.

“Playing at Scotstoun is a feeling I can’t really explain. I love the buzz. Glasgow fans love their team and as a player I love that. I love running out here and they give us the extra motivation we need.

“I’m staying here because I want to win things. I feel like the squad and coaching staff we’ve got here have the ability to do that and it’s really exciting.”

Glasgow Warriors Head Coach Dave Rennie, said: “We’re rapt that Ali has signed up. He’s developed into a top class 9 and the speed that he brings is a big part of how we’re trying to play the game.

“He’s a good man and he loves the club and it’s great for us to have an international scrum-half committing long-term.”
